MCKENZIE COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING

WATFORD, ND

Due to old and outdated facilities and explosive growth due to the oil industry, McKenzie County needed a new public works building. The existing facilities lacked space, and equipment such as snow plows and road graders were stored outdoors. ICON designed a new facility that was built on a 32-acre site that allows the County to keep all equipment indoors while also housing everything on one site, instead of multiple. The facility houses three County departments and includes administrative office space, storage space, and garage space for large County vehicles. The building features a wash bay, a welding bay, a vehicle maintenance bay, and the site also includes two 11,500 s.f. cold storage buildings, a 6,000 s.f. salt and sand storage building, and a 29,000 s.f. outdoor storage laydown yard.
