The McKenzie County Combined Law Enforcement Center addresses the need for more prisoner cells and consolidates the many county and state agencies that serve the growing population of the region. The combined law enforcement center serves several county and state agencies including: the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Department, the Watford City Police, North Dakota Highway Patrol, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The building houses both long and short-term prisoners with a capacity of 135 beds. The masterplan of the facility includes future expansion for office space, a future courthouse, and additional inmate cells. The project also included a visitor lobby and visitor processing, a medical unit, and a secure vehicle sally port for unloading and loading prisoners
