Killdeer High School - New Construction

Killdeer, ND

With an increase in enrollment of more than 250 students over the last ten years and anticipated continued growth, Killdeer High School was running out of space for its students and staff. The school used temporary classrooms and rented space from an adjacent church during school hours. To address this growth, ICON was selected to explore expansion options for the District. Multiple options were studied and evaluated for their feasibility and associated costs and it was ultimately decided by the District that the best option was to build a new high school on a new site. Using an independently administered district-wide survey, the District was able gauge tax tolerance and project priorities. The data received from this survey led to the successful passing of a bond referendum in May 2020.

The new 117,772 SF high school includes 29 classrooms, featuring an art room, FACS room, 3 ITV classrooms, music classroom with practice rooms and storage space, two CTE classrooms with metals and woodworking shops, and more. The school also features a gymnasium with track, weight room, and wrestling room. The school highlights a large patio area with shading structure where students and staff can enjoy the outdoors.
