ICON renovated an existing building on the University of North Dakota campus into a new data center for the North Dakota University System (NDUS). The building was designed to meet the latest standards for this type of facility. The project is a level three data center and consists of a raised floor machine room, support infrastructure (switching gear, electrical switchgear, UPS rooms, and mechanical system spaces), a security window, a conference room, a network operations center (NOC), manager’s office, an unloading dock, and an equipment burn-in room. This project required that ICON work closely with the data center engineering firm and the three prime contractors: the general contractor, the electrical contractor, and the mechanical contractor to ensure the project’s scope, schedule, and budget were maintained.
