ICON was hired to design and renovate the United Valley Bank headquarters in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After considering purchasing land and relocating, the owner decided to invest in reviving the aesthetics and image of the existing building. They felt the existing building had served its purpose but needed a fresh look that was reflective of their identity. ICON designed an addition to house current and future positions. With branches throughout rural North Dakota, the addition to the corporate branch in Grand Forks would allow for ample space to support the surrounding branches. The existing building consisted of concentric octagons that with the new addition became rectangular making it much more conducive for office activity and furniture. The renovated building features a two-story open conference room with floor-to-ceiling glass curtain walls that provide natural light throughout the building. Construction was completed in phases to allow for full operation of the building throughout construction.
