WATFORD CITY EMBARKS ON NEW VISION FOR COMMUNITY

A little over ten years ago, Watford City completed a Community Strategic Plan with the assistance of NDSU. “At the time, it wasn’t something that many smaller communities in Western North Dakota were doing,” says Curt Moen, Watford City Planning & Zoning Administrator. The leadership at the time, however, felt it was important to create a vision for our community. The Community Strategic Plan focused on facilities to enhance the community. From that processes, a number of infrastructure upgrades and new facilities were completed including a main street renovation, outdoor water park, golf course updates, visitor center, and other recreation facilities.

IT center at UND almost ready for bids

Plans for the new information technology center at UND are close to completion and the facility should be soon ready to accept bids from builders, members of the State Board of Higher Education learned during a conference call Thursday. The joint project of the North Dakota University System and UND, expected to cost about $15.5 million, would better serve the information technology needs of the system’s 11 campuses.

Congratulations to Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services and ICON Architectural Group as they enjoy their first year in a new corporate headquarters. The project achieved a LEED Gold Certification through the application of innovation and green practices in reducing their environmental footprint in development.

Scotiabank's New Scoreboard Unveiled

Even if the Senators aren’t impressive on the ice Tuesday, they’ll certainly look impressive above the ice. With the Montreal Canadiens in town to end the club’s two-day holiday break, the Senators will unveil a portion - the four main video panels - of their new Bell HD Screen made by Panasonic at Scotiabank Place. While many spent the holidays enjoying time with family and friends, staff were working feverishly since the final buzzer of the club’s game against the Florida Panthers Thursday dismantling the old scoreboard and putting up the new one.

New Ralston Arena Making Progress

The beams are up and the future of sports and entertainment look bright in Ralston as the newest arena takes shape in the metro. WOWT Channel 6 News got an exclusive tour inside the arena on Wednesday. The Ralston Sports & Event Center has been under construction for 6 months, and the progress is evident. The 3,500 seat arena is taking shape not only outside but inside as structures for the seating are starting to get in place. All three areas are being constructed. They include the main arena, office space, and a 2nd ice rink. Mayor Don Groesser says the progress has been great.
